Primary Years Programme (PYP) Teacher – IB & Montessori

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic Primary Years Programme (PYP) Teacher to join our school in Lucknow. The role blends the International Baccalaureate framework with Montessori principles to foster inquiry‑based, student‑centred learning for lower primary students.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver high‑quality, inquiry‑driven lessons aligned with the IB PYP framework.
• Incorporate Montessori strategies to promote independence, hands‑on exploration and self‑directed learning.
• Design transdisciplinary learning experiences that develop critical thinking, collaboration and creativity.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs and support literacy, numeracy and holistic development.
• Integrate appropriate technology to enhance teaching and learning.
• Assess student progress using formative and summative methods, maintain accurate records and prepare reports in line with IB guidelines.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive classroom environment that encourages student agency and wellbeing.
• Collaborate with PYP coordinators, specialist teachers and support staff in curriculum planning and school events.
• Engage regularly with parents through communication, conferences and workshops.
• Participate in IB and Montessori professional development to stay current with best practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field and a B.Ed. or equivalent qualification.
• Montessori certification (AMI, AMS or equivalent) – mandatory.
• IB PYP training or prior experience in an IB World School – highly desirable.
• 2–5 years of teaching experience in lower primary or elementary years.
• Strong knowledge of Montessori pedagogy, child development and inquiry‑based learning.
• Excellent classroom management and ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues and families.

Required skills

• Proficiency in designing inquiry‑based curricula aligned with IB PYP standards.
• Ability to integrate Montessori materials and methods into daily instruction.
• Effective use of educational technology to support learning.
