Patent Secretary – IP Law Firm

About the role

We are seeking a Patent Secretary to join a leading Intellectual Property law firm in India. The role involves supporting the patent prosecution team across the full patent life‑cycle, handling filings, responses, and post‑grant activities for Indian, US and international applications.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and file patent applications, amendments, and related forms in India, USPTO and PCT systems.
• Draft and file FER (First Examination Report) responses and handle office actions.
• Illustrate, draft and file patent assignment documents.
• Interact directly with the Indian Patent Office for queries, renewals and maintenance.
• Manage patent grants, renewals and maintenance in India and the United States.
• Coordinate with clients and internal teams to ensure timely submission of all required documents.

Required profile

• 2–8 years of experience in patent filing and prosecution.
• Paralegal experience in an IPR law firm or an IPR department.
• LLB graduate (not registered with the Bar Council) or a graduate with a strong academic record.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
