Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

Autobahn Industries is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop, review, and improve drilling handling tools and related equipment, ensuring compliance with API Spec 7K and customer requirements. The role includes preparing full design packages, supporting manufacturability, and collaborating with production and quality teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop drilling equipment and handling tools.
• Prepare complete design packages including drawings, calculations, bill of materials and specifications.
• Ensure designs meet API standards and customer technical requirements.
• Perform engineering calculations such as load, stress, tolerance and material selection.
• Conduct risk assessments during design and implement mitigation measures.
• Coordinate with Production and QA to verify manufacturability and compliance.
• Support root‑cause analysis of product failures and propose design improvements.
• Maintain document control and revision management.
• Assist during customer and API audits related to design documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in heavy engineering or oil & gas equipment design.
• Strong knowledge of API standards, preferably API 7K.
• Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD or Creo.
• Understanding of materials, heat treatment and manufacturing processes.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
