Legal Counsel - Africa & Middle East

About the role

We are looking for a highly competent and commercially‑savvy Legal Counsel to support the Africa and Middle East region within the AIM (Africa, India, Middle East and Sri Lanka) area of the Michelin Group. The role will ensure legal, governance and ethical compliance across subsidiaries, joint ventures and recent acquisitions while providing pragmatic, business‑focused advice.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret laws and regulations in the UAE, KSA, other GCC states, Morocco, South Africa and Nigeria, advising internal stakeholders accordingly.
• Provide timely, accurate legal advice across commercial, antitrust, consumer protection, privacy, labour and business‑ethics matters.
• Identify legal risks and propose strategic mitigation measures that align with business objectives.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts such as franchise, distribution, supply, partnership, licensing and marketing agreements, ensuring alignment with group templates and local law.
• Support negotiations with third parties, administrations and partners, acting as the primary legal point of contact for the Lifestyle and Mining business lines.
• Implement and enforce group compliance programmes, including anti‑corruption, antitrust, privacy and export‑control requirements.
• Promote the use of the Contract Lifecycle Management tool across the region.

Required profile

• 10–12 years of post‑qualification experience in commercial and corporate law.
• Strong expertise in agency and distributorship arrangements, joint ventures, mediation, dispute resolution and corporate governance.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver commercially oriented legal advice and to work collaboratively with business units.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) tools.
