Lead Amazon Connect Developer – AI Agents

About the role

Optum, part of UnitedHealth Group, is looking for an experienced Lead Amazon Connect Developer in Chennai to design, develop, implement and support enterprise-scale contact center solutions on Amazon Connect. The role calls for strong technical leadership, solution design, hands-on development and the ability to mentor teams while delivering scalable, reliable customer engagement solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of Amazon Connect solutions for customer and agent experiences, and guide solution architecture decisions
• Conduct design and code reviews, mentor junior developers and engineers, and build integrations with third-party systems
• Build and maintain Contact Flows, Customer Flows, Transfer Flows and routing logic, and configure Queues, Routing Profiles, Hours of Operation, Security Profiles and Agent Experiences
• Develop serverless applications with AWS Lambda and APIs with API Gateway; work with DynamoDB, S3, SNS, SQS, EventBridge, IAM, Secrets Manager and CloudWatch
• Support digital channels such as Chat, Messaging, SMS, Email and WhatsApp, and integrate conversational AI and chatbots with Amazon Connect
• Lead production deployments and releases, perform root cause analysis, monitor application health and support on-call duties

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field
• 8+ years of overall software development experience, 4+ years hands-on with Amazon Connect
• Solid experience with AWS cloud services and enterprise application integrations
• Preferred: AWS certifications (Developer Associate, Solutions Architect Associate/Professional), Amazon Connect specialty, experience with Amazon Lex, Bedrock and generative AI, and migration from Genesys, LivePerson, NICE or similar platforms
• Preferred: knowledge of Agile/Scrum, experience managing technical delivery in enterprise environments, and stakeholder management skills
