Infrastructure Engineer AVP

About the role

Barclays is seeking an experienced AVP Infrastructure Engineer to design, build and maintain reliable, scalable and secure infrastructure platforms that support applications and data systems. The role involves applying software engineering techniques, automation and best practices to ensure high availability and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, build and support of secure, high‑performing applications and infrastructure.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible), CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks.
• Provide L2/L3 support, incident management and drive reliability (SRE) across environments.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, security and QA teams to deliver integrated digital solutions.
• Mentor team members, promote DevSecOps practices and ensure compliance with security and governance standards.

Required profile

• Strong technical leadership with experience in large‑scale, complex infrastructure environments.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and ability to influence technical decisions.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS), containers (Docker, EKS) and automation tools.
• Background in incident management, ITIL processes and security best practices.
