About the role

Build AI is a data hyperscaler for physical AI, collecting data from people doing physical work. It is hiring a Head of Operations to build and run its workforce across India. The role is full-time and involves long hours, high agency and extreme operational rigour: you must be able to mobilise 100 people in a new city within 24-48 hours and repeat it.

Key responsibilities

• Mobilise 100 people within 24-48 hours in any city where operations start
• Build and maintain relationships with local recruiters, staffing partners and workforce networks across India
• Hire, train and manage city managers, operators and regional heads
• Own city launches, including workforce readiness, onboarding, training, equipment and local logistics
• Own shipping, tracking, distribution and recovery of equipment across cities
• Ensure workers arrive, have the right equipment and understand their tasks
• Set daily targets and track attendance, productivity, data quality, costs and equipment utilisation
• Hold city managers and regional heads accountable and resolve workforce shortages, shipment delays and equipment failures
• Build processes that keep teams rigorous as the company expands and visit sites to fix problems

Required profile

• Has personally mobilised large workforces or launched operations under tight deadlines
• Has built and managed field operations across multiple Indian cities
• Has hired and managed city managers, field operators or regional leaders
• Has directly managed logistics, shipping and equipment or inventory
• Can build recruiting networks that deliver reliable workers quickly
• Willing to work long hours and travel at short notice
• Nice to have: existing relationships with staffing agencies, experience launching new cities in days, managing field-deployed equipment, and working at an early-stage company
