Design Engineer – CAD & Automation

About the role

The Design Engineer will be responsible for creating detailed part and assembly designs for automation equipment. The role involves translating engineering requirements into accurate 2D and 3D models, drawings and bills of materials, supporting manufacturing and assembly teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop 2D and 3D CAD models for parts, fixtures and system components.
• Produce assembly and part drawings in accordance with engineering standards.
• Generate complete Bills of Materials (BoM) for each project.
• Apply GD&T principles to ensure manufacturability and quality.
• Design spot‑welding and MIG‑welding fixtures for production lines.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, tooling and assembly groups to validate designs.
• Provide on‑site design support when required.

Required profile

• Proven experience in the automation industry, including system and fixture design.
• Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and standards.
• Hands‑on experience with tool, machine, fabrication and assembly processes.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes and welding fixture design.

Required skills

• CAD (2D/3D) part design.
• Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
• MS Excel and MS Word.
• Spot‑welding and MIG‑welding fixture design.
• Bill of Materials (BoM) preparation.
