Design Engineer

About the role

The Design Engineer will work with the 3D modelling software NX and Teamcenter PLM to develop mechanical components for bare block compressors. You will collaborate closely with project leaders and production teams to ensure designs are feasible, meet assembly requirements and comply with company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Create and maintain 3D models, single‑part, sub‑assembly and full‑assembly drawings using NX.
• Coordinate with design project leaders to deliver high‑quality design solutions.
• Design compressor parts considering manufacturing feasibility, assembly, and application requirements.
• Validate designs against CAD handbooks, international standards and Burckhardt Compression guidelines.
• Prepare time estimates, clarify input data, and communicate progress to team leaders.
• Work with the procurement and work‑preparation departments to optimise casting designs and production processes.
• Generate additional documentation such as calculation sheets, technical output tables and fabrication drawings.
• Document technical knowledge, propose improvements and suggest CAD system enhancements.

Required profile

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3–6 years of experience in mechanical part and assembly design, preferably using NX.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP, and standard office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Required skills

• NX (3D CAD) modelling.
• Teamcenter PLM.
• CAD standards and drawing creation.
• SAP ERP (experience preferred).
• Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
