Commis II – Kitchen Assistant (Food & Beverage)

About the role

The Commis II supports the kitchen team by preparing ingredients, cooking dishes, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment in a busy hotel setting. This full‑time position reports to the kitchen supervisor and follows Marriott’s quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Portion, chop, wash, peel, weigh, measure and mix ingredients according to recipes.
• Prepare and cook hot and cold foods, ensuring presentation and quality standards.
• Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers safely.
• Test food for doneness, monitor quality, and adjust cooking as needed.
• Set up and break down work stations, serve food in proper portions, and maintain proper storage.
• Wash and disinfect kitchen areas, tools, knives and equipment; verify appliance and food temperatures.
• Follow all company safety, security and hygiene policies; report incidents and maintenance needs.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• At least one year of related kitchen or food‑service experience.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 25 lb and perform repetitive motions for an entire shift.
• No supervisory experience required; no specific license or certification needed.
