About the role
The Commis I – Indian Kitchen Assistant will support the culinary team in delivering high‑quality Indian dishes at a Marriott hotel in Jaipur. This full‑time, non‑management position focuses on food preparation, cooking, and maintaining kitchen standards.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare special meals, substitute items, and cold foods according to recipes and presentation standards.
- Regulate oven, broiler, grill and roaster temperatures and manage food thawing from freezer storage.
- Ensure proper portioning, arrangement, garnish, and maintain accurate food logs.
- Monitor food quality and quantity, inform the Chef of excess items, and communicate menu specials or out‑of‑stock items to service staff.
- Assist with hiring, training, scheduling, and coaching of kitchen staff as needed.
- Follow all safety, security, and company policies; report maintenance issues, accidents, and complete required safety training.
- Maintain a clean, professional appearance and protect confidential and company assets.
- Perform physical tasks such as standing for long periods, lifting up to 25 lb, and reaching overhead or below the knees.
Required profile
- Technical, trade or vocational school degree in culinary arts or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant kitchen experience.
- No supervisory experience required.
