Commis I – Food & Beverage

About the role

The Commis I supports the kitchen and food‑and‑beverage team in delivering high‑quality meals and service at a Marriott property in Bengaluru. This entry‑level position focuses on food preparation, cooking, and maintaining standards while assisting with daily operational tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare special meals and substitute items according to recipes and presentation standards.
• Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters; operate kitchen equipment safely.
• Pull frozen items for thawing, ensure proper portioning, arrangement, and garnish.
• Maintain food logs, monitor quality and quantity of prepared food, and report excess items for specials.
• Communicate menu specials, out‑of‑stock items, and assistance needs to chefs and service staff.
• Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, and employee coaching as needed.
• Follow all safety, security, and company policies; report maintenance issues and incidents.
• Uphold professional uniform standards and protect confidential information.

Required profile

• Technical, trade, or vocational school degree related to food service.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant kitchen or food‑and‑beverage experience.
• No prior supervisory experience required.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 25 lb, and perform repetitive motions.
