Claims Specialist

About the role

ZeroNorth is seeking a Claims Specialist to join its Maritime Claims and Performance team. The role bridges data analysis, commercial operations, legal interpretation, and customer relations to investigate and resolve complex maritime legal claims related to vessel speed and fuel consumption.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate, analyse, and manage claims concerning vessel speed, fuel consumption and performance under charter‑party terms.
• Interpret charter‑party clauses and draft legally sound counter‑arguments to support claim recovery or defence.
• Engage with customers, handling technical disputes and push‑backs with professionalism.
• Review vessel performance data to ensure compliance with contractual and commercial benchmarks.
• Contribute to the development and testing of in‑house performance monitoring tools.
• Collaborate with internal teams (Product, Commercial, Legal) and external stakeholders (Charterers, Owners) to achieve data‑driven claim resolutions.
• Prepare detailed reports and technical documentation to support claim negotiations.

Required profile

• Strong analytical mindset and resilience in high‑pressure environments.
• Deep technical or commercial maritime knowledge.
• Experience handling maritime legal claims and disputes; a law degree (LLB/LLM) is preferred.
• Ability to navigate push‑back during legal negotiations.
