Bank Cashier – Branch Operations

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations for the branch in line with internal and external banking guidelines. The role ensures accurate record‑keeping, end‑of‑day reconciliation, and provides courteous service to customers.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash against deposit challans.
• Collect loan repayments as per EMI schedules and maintain corresponding system entries.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty cash register, assets register and forward requisition forms to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, reconcile with transaction books, and report in the End‑of‑Day Branch report.
• Jointly manage the branch vault and cash department with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers during deposits and withdrawals, identify cross‑sell opportunities, and update them on new products and services.
• Provide superior customer service, address queries, and educate customers on alternate banking channels.
• Count and verify cash at the start and end of the day before vaulting.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, bank policies, and defined turnaround times for transactions.
• Validate customer authenticity during cash withdrawals and verify accuracy of cash deposit slips for audit purposes.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in cash handling.
• Excellent customer service orientation.
• Good understanding of banking regulations and internal policies.
• Ability to operate and update banking transaction systems and registers.
• Capability to perform daily reconciliations and end‑of‑day reporting.
