Bank Cashier – Branch Operations

About the role

The Bank Cashier is responsible for handling all cash‑related transactions at the branch, ensuring compliance with internal and external banking guidelines. This full‑time, onsite position supports the smooth operation of the branch by processing deposits, withdrawals, and other cash instruments accurately and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other cash instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans.
• Maintain and update inward/outward registers, petty‑cash register, and assets register.
• Perform daily cash tally, end‑of‑day reconciliation and prepare branch cash reports.
• Jointly manage the branch vault and cash custody with the Operations Officer.
• Assist customers with transactions, promote bank products, and educate them on alternative channels.
• Ensure adherence to turnaround times, regulatory requirements and bank policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; banking experience preferred.
• Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to interact courteously with customers and handle inquiries.
• Reliability in managing cash and maintaining confidentiality.

Required skills

• Proficiency in using banking transaction systems and registers.
• Basic understanding of cash handling procedures and vault operations.
