Associate Director – Overhead Line Equipment (OLE)

About the role

WSP is looking for an Associate Director to lead the Overhead Line Equipment (OLE) team within its Rail & Transit business. You will be responsible for delivering high‑quality OLE solutions for railway and transit projects, primarily supporting design decisions and technical issues across Sweden and global delivery locations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead delivery of OLE design packages from feasibility through IFC stages for Swedish rail projects.
• Guide preparation and technical review of layout plans, cross‑sections, wire run schedules, mast schedules, clearance studies and loading calculations.
• Ensure designs comply with Trafikverket requirements and relevant EN/IEC standards.
• Apply system‑engineering principles and coordinate OLE designs with track, signalling, telecom, civil and structural disciplines.
• Manage and mentor the multidisciplinary OLE team, allocating work, reviewing outputs and developing capability.
• Coordinate with teams in Sweden, India, Nordics, UK and other regions to align design intent and resolve technical issues.
• Lead technical reviews, client submissions and resolution of design comments.
• Drive continuous improvement of design standards, delivery workflows and quality processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent (Master’s degree or professional certification is a plus).
• 15+ years of experience in railway OLE/electrification design, including leadership of technical teams.
• Proven experience delivering mainline rail electrification projects, preferably in Europe/Nordic markets.
• Strong knowledge of Swedish rail (Trafikverket) requirements and EN/IEC standards.
