Assembly Technician

About the role

Wabtec is seeking a dynamic Assembly Technician to join its locomotive engine and component assembly line. The role involves overhauling engines, assembling locomotive components, and ensuring safety and quality standards are met throughout the production process.

Key responsibilities

• Perform overhauls and remanufacturing of locomotive components according to drawings, instructions, or schematics.
• Follow established safety and efficiency procedures, report near‑misses, and maintain a clean work environment.
• Inspect assembled products for faults, conduct in‑process checks, and record findings against set parameters.
• Maintain tool management system, ensure zero in‑process rejections, and generate Kaizen ideas.
• Carry out preventive maintenance, troubleshoot equipment, and coordinate repairs as needed.
• Manage inventory levels, place and track material orders, and verify receipt of supplies.
• Document production and quality checks on required forms.

Required profile

• Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years of experience on an industrial manufacturing assembly line.
• Strong personal integrity, safety mindset, and ability to work in shift patterns.
• Effective communication skills and a collaborative team attitude.
