Arborist – Urban Forestry Specialist

About the role

The City of Leduc is seeking a skilled Arborist to join its Parks & Open Spaces team. You will work hands‑on in the field, maintaining the health and safety of the city’s urban canopy across parks, boulevards, and natural areas.

Key responsibilities

• Perform tree pruning, removals, and structural care following ANSI and ISA standards.
• Operate and maintain specialized equipment such as aerial bucket trucks, wood chippers, chainsaws, stump grinders, and skid steers.
• Conduct site inspections to identify hazards and implement risk‑mitigation measures, including cabling and corrective pruning.
• Diagnose and treat tree diseases and pest infestations using integrated pest management techniques.
• Assist with tree planting, establishment, and care of young stock.
• Provide guidance on safe work methods to seasonal and labourer staff.
• Maintain accurate field logs, equipment checks, hazard assessments, and incident reports.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience in municipal or urban forestry operations.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work safely at heights.
• Professional demeanor when interacting with residents and team members.
