AI & Machine Learning Data Scientist – Flight Physics (FARMer)

About the role

The Flight Physics FARM team is looking for a Data Scientist with strong AI and Machine Learning expertise to turn high‑impact concepts into working prototypes. You will join a transnational core team that drives technical execution, standards adoption, and verification for flight‑physics applications.

Key responsibilities

• Apply advanced AI techniques (LLMs, CNNs, surrogate models) to analyse and model flight‑physics data.
• Rapidly prototype and validate AI solutions for priority projects such as the “Vibration Killer” initiative.
• Drive the adoption of standardized MLOps and POD platforms to ensure consistent training and deployment across the organisation.
• Collaborate with domain experts to define and execute verification & validation (V&V) strategies for future certification.
• Support aerodynamic engineering teams during peak workloads (wind‑tunnel testing, numerical simulation, analysis, modelling).
• Identify process improvements, build business cases and industrialise successful solutions.
• Build and nurture the FARM community, fostering knowledge exchange and co‑creation.
• Mentor technical teams and promote data‑science methods to boost innovation and efficiency.

Required profile

• Deep expertise in AI/ML research and implementation.
• Proven ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and validated models.
• Experience working in cross‑functional, multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Strong communication skills to partner with domain experts and drive V&V activities.
