Senior Software Technologist - Embedded (Linux Kernel, BSP & Yocto)

About the role

Philips is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Technologist to join its Hospital Patient Monitoring team in Bangalore. The role focuses on designing, optimizing, and delivering scalable Linux‑based solutions for critical care devices while mentoring junior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze functional requirements and lead architecture decisions for high‑performance embedded software.
• Develop and maintain Linux kernel drivers, BSPs, and Yocto/BitBake recipes for iMX‑based platforms.
• Write clean, maintainable C/C++ code, unit and component tests using Google Test with BDD/Gherkin syntax.
• Create and update technical documentation, ensure compliance with development policies, and conduct code reviews.
• Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve complex software issues; support project estimation and risk management.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in Linux embedded development, with at least 6 years focused on custom Yocto‑based operating systems.
• Strong background in C, C++, shell scripting, and Python.
• Hands‑on experience with board bring‑up, device‑tree modifications, bootloader and kernel driver development.
• Proficiency with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile/SAFe methodologies.
• Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills.
