External Data Management Specialist

About the role

The External Data Management Specialist will oversee the full lifecycle of external data assets, from demand assessment through procurement, contract handling, and delivery. Working within BASF Digital Hub Hyderabad, you will ensure data services are standardized, cost‑transparent, and aligned with business needs.

Key responsibilities

• Assess external data demand, manage purchasing and contract processes, and coordinate data delivery.
• Maintain and optimise the portfolio of external data providers, ensuring standardisation across the organisation.
• Execute purchasing and workflow processes in SAP in collaboration with Procurement.
• Act as the central contact for the external data portfolio, advising on subscription packages, licensing models, and permitted usage.
• Administer sub‑services for data subscriptions, including cost‑model calculations and user‑access control.
• Support the standardisation strategy by evolving charging models for transparent cost allocation.
• Communicate with data consumers and controlling stakeholders regarding costs, supplier updates, disruptions, and invoicing queries.
• Collaborate with technical experts to provision data as standardized products.
• Develop a deep understanding of data use cases to support procurement negotiations.
• Work cross‑functionally with data, IT, procurement, controlling, and business units.

Required profile

• University degree in Business Administration or a related field.
