Associate Analytical Technologist

About the role

Join bp’s Fuels & Low Carbon Technology team as an Associate Analytical Technologist. You will work within a global network of scientists, providing analytical data and insights that support low‑carbon fuel, biofuel, SAF, biogas, hydrogen and other energy initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Perform safe, standards‑compliant experimental work and contribute to a proactive safety culture.
• Own and execute analytical techniques, delivering high‑quality results for catalyst and product characterization.
• Continuously improve analytical chemistry methods and data quality across solid, liquid and gas samples.
• Collaborate with management to shape and implement the team’s analytical strategy aligned with the global function.
• Support cross‑functional projects spanning fuels, biofuels, SAF, biogas, feedstocks, hydrogen and low‑carbon initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry or a related analytical science field, or equivalent experience.
• Hands‑on experience with catalyst or product characterization techniques.
• Ability to interpret and apply results from XRD, microscopy, spectroscopy, GC and GC‑MS.
• Strong communication skills for presenting technical information to diverse audiences.
