Tax Manager – Federal Tax

About the role

Amazon is looking for an experienced Tax Manager to join its Federal Tax Compliance and Reporting team. The role focuses on domestic tax compliance, preparation of federal income tax filings, and the U.S. Federal components of Amazon’s worldwide tax provision.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review federal tax returns and audit‑ready workpapers, including reporting of foreign transactions.
• Prepare and review tax adjustments for financial accounting, maintain deferred tax positions, and ensure ASC 740 compliance.
• Analyze and document tax implications of emerging business issues and integrate technical tax positions into the compliance process.
• Research tax planning ideas and assess their impact on U.S. income tax reporting and the worldwide provision.
• Drive process improvements and automation in partnership with the Tax Technology team.
• Lead cross‑functional projects from requirements gathering through implementation.
• Communicate complex tax issues to non‑tax stakeholders and influence strategic decisions.
• Mentor and train junior team members and execute special projects as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 8 + years of federal tax experience in public accounting or a multinational corporation.
• Strong knowledge of federal income taxation, ASC 740, and experience with state, local, and outbound U.S. tax issues.
• Proven ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands, and drive process improvements.
