Software Engineering Director

About the role

U.S. Bancorp India is seeking a seasoned Software Engineering Director to lead the design, development, and delivery of large‑scale digital products and platforms. You will shape technical strategy, mentor engineering teams, and ensure high‑quality, resilient solutions that support our financial services customers.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the technology roadmap for customer‑facing applications and internal platforms.
• Lead, coach, and grow a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
• Oversee architecture decisions, code reviews, and technical trade‑offs to deliver scalable, high‑availability systems.
• Collaborate with product, design, and operations teams in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Drive recruitment, talent development, and retention of top engineering talent.
• Ensure robust observability, resiliency engineering, and compliance with banking standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 10+ years of hands‑on software engineering experience with deep proficiency in at least one modern programming language.
• 3+ years of experience managing software engineering teams.
• Proven track record of delivering complex software products on time and at scale.
• Excellent communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and using modern delivery tooling.

Required skills

• Modern programming language (e.g., Java, C#, Python) proficiency.
• Cloud‑native platforms and microservices‑based design patterns.
• Resiliency engineering, observability, and high‑availability system design.
• API‑driven and event‑driven architecture experience.
• Agile/Scrum methodology.
• Jira, GitHub/GitLab, and CI/CD pipeline tooling.
