Senior Data Scientist / AI Engineer

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Senior Data Scientist / AI Engineer to drive innovative AI solutions for semiconductor and display manufacturing. You will work on cutting‑edge machine‑learning projects that enable next‑generation chip and display technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Design, prototype, develop and debug software solutions for semiconductor equipment components.
• Create documentation, test procedures, troubleshoot software issues and collaborate with internal customers to gather requirements.

Required profile

• 8+ years of IT experience, including 6+ years in data science and 2+ years in agentic AI, with proven production deployments using unstructured data.
• Advanced degree (M.Tech/M.Sc.) in Computer Science, AI, Deep Learning or related field; strong domain knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing.

Required skills

• Strong Python programming; hands‑on experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch or Keras.
• Deep knowledge of transformer architectures (BERT, GPT, LLaMA) and fine‑tuning techniques (SFT, LoRA, adapters, prompt engineering).
• Experience with Databricks, MLflow, Delta Lake and MLOps practices such as CI/CD and model versioning.
• Familiarity with LLM orchestration frameworks (LangGraph, LangChain, LlamaIndex) and AI‑assisted coding tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot).
