Nursing Officer – Operating Theatre

About the role

The Nursing Officer will work in the Operating Theatre (OT) to deliver high‑quality patient care in line with anesthesia guidelines and hospital standards. This position requires close collaboration with the surgical team to ensure safe and efficient procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, prioritize, plan and implement patient care according to anesthesia protocols.
• Provide high‑standard OT care during anesthesia, adhering to trusted guidelines.
• Maintain effective communication with the operating team and give/receive patient reports.
• Ensure complete, accurate and legible documentation.
• Assist in equipment maintenance, stock management and reordering of supplies.
• Adhere to legal policies for drug storage and monitoring of gas levels.
• Maintain a safe environment for staff and patients and follow departmental policies.
• Protect patient records and data, respecting confidentiality.
• Participate in departmental and hospital teaching programmes.
• Uphold respect, dignity and professional ethics for all patients.

Required profile

• Graduate with first‑division marks in 10th, 12th and a Diploma/BSc in Operating Theatre nursing.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in technical and procedural aspects of OT nursing.
• Accountability for safe clinical practice and adherence to hospital policies.
