Environment Health and Safety Lead – Kolkata

About the role

The Environment Health and Safety Lead will act as the chief safety officer for the facility in Kolkata, ensuring compliance with all statutory regulations and fostering a strong safety culture. The role involves developing, implementing and maintaining EHS programs that reduce risk, prevent incidents and protect employee health.

Key responsibilities

• Advise management on compliance with the Factories Act 1948, West Bengal Factory Rules 1958, CPCB and SPCB mandates.
• Conduct job safety analyses, safety inspections and observations to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Lead investigations of accidents, serious incidents and occupational diseases, preparing reports and preventive recommendations.
• Design and deliver safety training programmes for all staff levels, with a focus on supervisory personnel.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of safety measures and monitor corrective actions.
• Provide guidance on the selection and specification of machinery, equipment and personal protective equipment.
• Support the formation and functioning of safety committees and promote safety‑related campaigns.

Required profile

• Experience in industrial environment health and safety management.
• Familiarity with Indian factory safety legislation and environmental regulations.
• Ability to communicate safety requirements to diverse departments.
