Category Buyer – Procurement Specialist

About the role

The Category Buyer will develop and execute sourcing strategies for assigned categories, ensuring timely, cost‑effective, and compliant procurement of goods and services. This role drives supplier performance, supports cross‑functional collaboration, and contributes to business objectives through effective category planning, negotiation, and contract management.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct procurement activities including scope review, RFX, tendering, bid evaluation, and purchase order processing.
• Prepare quotation comparative statements, negotiate with vendors, and process approvals within defined delegation limits.
• Ensure timely closure of open purchase requisitions and expedite open purchase orders, initiating quarterly short‑closures.
• Manage vendor registration, facilitate third‑party due diligence, and act as the single point of contact for letters of credit, EMD/BG, and related trade‑finance activities.
• Coordinate with suppliers for document submission and collaborate with material management, indirect taxation, and finance for GRN and bill booking.
• Interact with planning and analytics teams to prepare spend analysis and demand forecasts, execute sourcing strategies, and develop negotiation plans.
• Build and maintain an accurate supplier database, track category spend, monitor demand plan deviations, and optimize vendor mix.

Required profile

• Proven experience in procurement execution and tender management.
• Strong knowledge of vendor registration, third‑party due diligence, and trade‑finance processes.
• Ability to develop and implement strategic sourcing plans and conduct spend analysis.
• Experience presenting category insights and performance data to senior management.
