Welding Research Engineer

About the role

The Welding Research Engineer will work on solving welding and joining challenges for both internal TSL plants and external customers. The role focuses on component‑level solutions, leveraging advanced welding science and computational tools.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse and resolve welding and joining issues reported by internal and external stakeholders.
• Develop and validate component‑level solutions using welding metallurgy and process expertise.
• Perform static and dynamic evaluation of weld joints to ensure performance.
• Assess welding‑induced thermal effects, including residual stresses and distortion.
• Apply finite element methods to predict structural integrity of welded structures.
• Utilise Integrated Computational Welding Engineering (ICWE) approaches for design optimisation.

Required profile

• MTech or PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on design, thermal or manufacturing streams.
