Vice President, Data Engineering

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a visionary Vice President to lead its Data Platform Engineering team. This senior leader will drive the modernization of legacy data systems and build an AI‑augmented, multi‑agent ETL platform that supports both batch and streaming workloads.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and lead the development of a Multi‑Agent ETL Platform, integrating AI agents for autonomous data discovery, schema mapping, and error resolution.
• Define and implement scalable data ingestion, transformation, and delivery pipelines using tools such as Apache Airflow, NiFi, dbt, Spark, Kafka, or Dagster.
• Leverage large language models and agent frameworks (e.g., LangChain, CrewAI, AutoGen) to automate pipeline management and monitoring.
• Ensure robust data governance, cataloging, versioning, and lineage tracking across the platform.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Data Science, Analytics, Application Development) to deliver efficient data workflows.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience in data engineering and data platform strategy.
• Proven track record leading global data engineering or platform engineering teams.
• Strong background building and modernizing distributed data platforms using technologies such as Apache Spark, Kafka, Flink, NiFi, and Hadoop ecosystems.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence senior executives.
