Vice President – Back Office Engineering (Java/Oracle)

About the role

We are looking for a Vice President to lead the Back Office Engineering team for Citi’s Wealth Management division in Pune. The role oversees the design, development and 24/7 operation of mission‑critical platforms that handle trade processing, settlement and the official wealth books.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers responsible for core back‑office platforms, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Design, develop and maintain data services and APIs that deliver accurate position, balance and transaction status information to front‑ and middle‑office systems.
• Apply modern data techniques, analytics and AI/ML to improve reconciliation, detect anomalies and generate operational insights.
• Guarantee data integrity, auditability and scalability of the firm’s official wealth records.
• Define, monitor and report key performance indicators such as batch processing times, reconciliation breaks and API latency.
• Act as subject‑matter expert for the end‑to‑end back‑office ecosystem, from trade capture to general ledger reporting.
• Shape technical strategy in partnership with architecture and product teams.

Required profile

• Proven engineering leader with extensive experience in large‑scale, mission‑critical back‑office systems within financial institutions.
• Strong understanding of OLTP data flows and the full trade lifecycle.
• Metrics‑driven mindset with a focus on data accuracy, system stability and continuous improvement.
• Excellent work ethic and ability to manage a high‑performing team.
