Textile Engineer – Saree Construction & Weaving Technology

About the role

Onliest LLC is looking for a Textile Engineer specialized in saree construction and weaving technology. The role combines deep technical knowledge of weaving with hands‑on production experience to create scalable, repeatable saree designs using both modern and traditional loom systems.

Key responsibilities

• Develop weaving construction logic for saree body, border, and blouse sections.
• Design modular saree architecture that can be reproduced across production runs.
• Translate design concepts into loom‑ready formats using CAD and Jacquard programming.
• Analyze and optimise warp and weft behaviour to achieve target fabric performance.
• Plan pick structures for different saree zones and assess loom feasibility.
• Collaborate with weavers, mills, and production teams for sampling, execution and quality control.
• Troubleshoot design and production issues, ensuring fabric weight distribution and structural balance.

Required profile

• 3–8+ years of experience in textile engineering or design with a focus on weaving.
• Proven track record working with Indian saree construction systems and constraints.
• Hands‑on experience in sampling, production cycles and failure analysis.
• Strong problem‑solving ability to bridge design concepts and loom execution.

Required skills

• Weaving construction and logic development.
• Jacquard programming (NedGraphics, Textronics).
• Dobby (electronic) and traditional loom operation.
• CAD for loom translation.
• Warp setup, pick planning, yarn counts, tension control, border separation.
• Understanding of fabric behaviour, weight distribution and structural balance.
