Electrical Shift Technician – Facilities Operations

About the role

Micron Technology is looking for an Electrical Shift Technician to join its Facilities Operations team in Ahmedabad. The role supports 24 × 7 operation of high‑voltage electrical distribution and utility systems that keep the manufacturing plant running safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and monitor 220 kV GIS, 33 kV and 6.6 kV electrical distribution systems.
• Perform routine switching, isolation, energization and shutdown activities following approved procedures.
• Monitor power parameters, load distribution and equipment health to ensure uninterrupted supply.
• Respond to alarms, trips and abnormalities during shift operations.
• Support GIS substation inspection, breaker and protection system monitoring, and SF₆ gas parameter checks.
• Execute preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance; troubleshoot faults and restore systems quickly.
• Participate in root‑cause analysis, corrective actions and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Maintain critical utilities such as HVAC, chillers, air compressors, water & wastewater, gas systems and cleanroom utilities.
• Follow electrical safety, LOTO, PTW, Arc Flash and EHS requirements; assist in emergency response and audits.
• Document shift activities, alarms, incidents and update maintenance records in CMMS/SAP.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with 220 kV GIS substations, 33 kV and 6.6 kV distribution networks.
• Familiarity with HT/LT power systems, transformers, UPS, DG sets and facility utility systems.
• Ability to work in a 24 × 7 shift environment and respond to critical alarms.
• Knowledge of electrical safety standards (LOTO, PTW, Arc Flash) and EHS compliance.
