Systems Administrator (Infrastructure)

About the role

The Systems Administrator (Infrastructure) will manage and optimise our on‑premise and cloud environments, ensuring high availability, security and performance. This hybrid role works onsite three days a week and supports a regulated industry environment.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and maintain the virtual server environment across VMware and Microsoft Azure, handling host and guest management, health monitoring and fault resolution.
• Manage Azure cloud services, including configuration, capacity monitoring and cost‑efficient operation, escalating architectural decisions as needed.
• Maintain and support network switching and wireless infrastructure (Cisco switches, Cisco wireless and Aruba wireless) across sites.
• Perform infrastructure patching – firmware and OS updates for physical compute, storage and network hardware as well as virtualisation platforms.
• Oversee server and endpoint patching cycles, track completion and address any slippage.
• Operate and troubleshoot backup and recovery systems, ensuring data remains recoverable.
• Tri­age and remediate vulnerability findings, reporting progress to stakeholders.
• Maintain Active Directory and Entra ID health, policies and configuration, supporting access governance and periodic reviews.
• Log and manage all changes through Jira Service Management following ITIL processes.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of systems and infrastructure administration experience in an enterprise setting.
• Proven ability to work independently, set priorities and deliver results without close supervision.
• Fluent written and spoken English with strong communication skills for non‑technical staff.
• Experience in regulated or GMP environments is advantageous.
