System Engineer – Energy Stack Integration

About the role

Exponent Energy is looking for a hands-on System Engineer to join its Product & Systems team in Bengaluru. The team aims to grow the company's market share in Bengaluru and beyond by helping more people adopt 15-minute rapid charging via its Flexible Energy Stack, made of the e^pack (battery pack) and e^pump (charging station). The engineer owns and evolves the energy stack, working with OEM partners, mechanical, electrical and firmware engineers to ensure seamless integration across e^pack, e^pump and e^plug.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and specifications for the energy stack.
• Support the creation of system architecture.
• Support system-level testing and verification, including functional, performance and reliability testing.
• Navigate and negotiate feature delivery trade-offs against time.
• Analyse test data numerically and make objective decisions to meet target features.
• Take part in system-level reviews with cross-platform electrical and mechanical architects.
• Create technical documentation such as schematics, integration workflows and validation reports.
• Identify system-level test cases and write procedures for major components such as powertrain, battery system and charger system.

Required profile

• 2-7 years in embedded systems, electrical design or firmware development for automotive/EVs.
• Past experience on integrated systems with a holistic view.
• Experience in system-level validation and fault analysis.
• A strong focus on product excellence while keeping teams and products cohesive.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of CAN/LIN, PLC communication protocols, power electronics and control systems.
• Ability to debug hardware and electronic circuits and run diagnostics on system integration.
• At least one deep project covering mechanical, electrical, hardware and firmware domains.
• Nice to have: Formula student or BAJA background, MATLAB or other modelling tools, and any requirement-flow-down tool.
