Steward/Waiter – Full‑time Hospitality Role

About the role

The Shalimar Hotel is seeking a dedicated Steward/Waiter to join its dining team in Mumbai. This full‑time, on‑site position involves welcoming guests, presenting menus, taking orders and delivering food and beverages with professionalism and a smile.

Key responsibilities

• Greet guests, present menus and provide accurate food and beverage recommendations.
• Take orders, relay them to the kitchen and bar, and ensure timely delivery of dishes and drinks.
• Set up, clear and reset tables, maintaining a clean and hygienic dining environment.
• Replenish tableware, glassware and service stations throughout service periods.
• Assist with special events, banquets and private functions as required.
• Handle guest inquiries, resolve minor concerns and follow hotel service standards.

Required profile

• Strong customer‑service orientation with a focus on hospitality and guest satisfaction.
• Previous experience as a steward, waiter or similar role in a hotel or restaurant setting.
• Ability to stand for long periods, carry trays safely and work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• High school diploma or equivalent; hospitality or F&B training is a plus.

Required skills

• Practical knowledge of food and beverage service, basic table settings and service styles.
• Effective verbal communication for taking orders and interacting with guests and team members.
• Basic understanding of cooking processes to explain menu items when needed.
