Steward – Kitchen Support

About the role

The Steward ensures the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and dining areas, supporting food preparation teams by maintaining hygiene standards and handling equipment and utensils.

Key responsibilities

• Pre‑wash and wash utensils, equipment and dishes following hygiene and safety procedures.
• Perform daily cleaning of kitchen floors, countertops, sinks, stoves and related surfaces.
• Carry out weekly and monthly deep cleaning of walls, ovens, hoods, shelves, refrigerators, freezers, ceilings and lighting fixtures.
• Dispose of waste generated in the kitchen, cafeterias and point‑of‑sale areas.
• Operate dish‑washing machines and manage buffet set‑up, including ice placement.
• Execute detailed sanitisation of kitchen equipment according to checklists.
• Maintain orderly storage of utensils and supplies.
• Protect equipment, utensils, dishes and personal protective equipment (PPE) used daily.
• Follow food‑safety and hygiene regulations.
• Keep waste storage areas organised and use cleaning products with correct dilutions.

Required profile

• Basic education (incomplete primary school).
• Minimum 3 months of experience in a steward or similar kitchen support role.
• Attention to detail, ability to concentrate, cooperative attitude, focus on quality and productivity, and good interpersonal relationships.
• Completed courses in basic steward techniques, basic food hygiene and safety, and advanced hygiene.
• Preferably prior experience as a steward for HTIC.

• Operation of commercial dish‑washing machines.
• Kitchen equipment cleaning and sanitisation.
• Buffet set‑up and ice handling.
• Proper use and dilution of cleaning chemicals.
• Food‑waste disposal and trash‑area organisation.
