Staff Software Engineer – Quality Engineering

About the role

AlphaSense is looking for a Staff Software Engineer in Quality Engineering to own test strategy and build automation frameworks for its Content Portfolio team. You will work remotely from India, partnering with developers, product managers, and platform teams to ensure reliable, high‑velocity releases of AI‑driven market intelligence software.

Key responsibilities

• Lead development of test automation frameworks across UI, API and GraphQL layers, emphasizing reliability, maintainability and speed.
• Design and integrate AI evaluation frameworks to assess accuracy and consistency of LLM‑powered features.
• Implement performance testing and monitoring solutions, and optimise CI/CD pipelines for faster feedback.
• Drive shift‑left testing practices, mentor QE engineers and lead root‑cause analysis for critical issues.

Required profile

• 8+ years of hands‑on software quality engineering experience, with at least 2 years at a staff or lead level.
• Proven track record of designing and evolving test automation frameworks at scale.
• Experience in SaaS, fintech or market‑intelligence domains and familiarity with AI/ML‑powered products.

Required skills

• Testing TypeScript/JavaScript, modern frontend ecosystems (React, Webpack).
• Playwright or comparable browser automation frameworks (Cypress, Selenium WebDriver).
• Unit and component testing tools such as Vitest, Jest, React Testing Library.
• CI/CD systems (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Buildkite, GitLab) and test integration.
• GraphQL API testing, performance tools (k6, Lighthouse, Artillery) and visual regression (Percy, Chromatic).
• Allure or similar reporting platforms, Docker, Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP).
• AI/ML testing challenges, AI‑assisted development tools (Cursor, Claude, GitHub Copilot).
