AI Engineer – Forward Deployed Engineer (Remote – India)

About the role

The AI Forward Deployed Engineering (AI FDE) team at Databricks delivers professional‑services engagements to help customers build and productionize first‑of‑its‑kind AI applications. The role is customer‑facing, remote‑first, and focuses on the latest trends in GenAI, LLMOps, and machine learning.

Key responsibilities

• Develop cutting‑edge GenAI solutions using Databricks AI research to solve customer problems.
• Own production rollouts of consumer‑ and internally‑facing GenAI applications.
• Serve as a trusted technical advisor to customers across diverse domains.
• Present at conferences such as Data + AI Summit and act as a thought leader.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with product and engineering teams to influence priorities and shape the product roadmap.

Required profile

• Experience building GenAI applications (RAG, multi‑agent systems, Text2SQL, fine‑tuning) with tools like HuggingFace, LangChain, DSPy.
• Expertise deploying production‑grade GenAI applications, including evaluation and optimization.
• Extensive hands‑on industry data‑science experience using pandas, scikit‑learn, PyTorch, etc.
• Experience delivering production‑grade ML deployments on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Graduate degree in a quantitative discipline or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Passion for collaboration, lifelong learning, and driving business value through AI.
• Preferred: Experience with Databricks Intelligence Platform and Apache Spark.
• Willingness to travel once every 4–8 weeks as needed.
