Staff Data Analyst

About the role

Coupang’s Retail and Selection team powers the massive product catalog that drives the company’s e‑commerce business. As a Staff Data Analyst you will act as the technical architect of the data strategy, turning raw market signals and internal metrics into actionable insights that improve selection, pricing and inventory health.

Key responsibilities

• Lead high‑impact projects to improve the quality and depth of selection data, ensuring a reliable source of truth for business decisions.
• Architect and maintain robust ETL pipelines that integrate market trends, vendor performance and customer demand.
• Leverage large language models and prompt engineering to automate catalog categorization and extract insights from unstructured vendor data.
• Own and evolve the Retail Team Knowledge Base, keeping technical documentation and data dictionaries up‑to‑date.
• Design training programs and self‑service dashboards that enable category managers and vendors to make data‑driven decisions.
• Structure large‑scale datasets to build decision models for SKU rationalization, automated replenishment and competitive benchmarking.
• Run complex simulations to predict the impact of selection changes on customer retention and profitability.
• Translate analytical findings into clear, actionable narratives for executive stakeholders across Retail and Supply Chain.
• Mentor senior and junior analysts, guiding technical development and problem‑solving frameworks.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in data analytics or business intelligence.
• Expert‑level proficiency in SQL and Python/R for data extraction and manipulation.
• Practical experience with prompt engineering and generative AI tools to solve data problems.
• Mastery of data storytelling using PowerBI, Tableau or similar visualization tools.
• Business‑level fluency in English and proven ability to train non‑technical users.
