About the role

Jagran New Media is seeking a passionate Sports Content Writer to join its digital newsroom. You will cover national and international sporting events, crafting news stories, match reports, explainers and feature articles that engage a large online audience.

Key responsibilities

• Cover a wide range of sports including cricket, football, tennis, badminton, athletics and more.
• Write timely news pieces, match reports, athlete profiles and in‑depth explainers.
• Track tournament schedules, rankings, records and major developments.
• Identify trending sports stories and create engaging digital content.
• Produce reader‑friendly explainers on rules, formats, statistics and historical milestones.
• Collaborate with the editorial team to ensure accuracy and timely publication.
• Maintain high standards of fact‑checking and journalistic integrity.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, English or a related field.
• 1–2 years of experience in sports journalism, digital media or a news organisation.
• Strong understanding of major national and international sporting events.
• Excellent research, writing and communication abilities.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced digital newsroom and meet tight deadlines.
