Software Test Engineer – Kolkata

About the role

Xerox is looking for a Software Test Engineer to join its Software Quality Engineering team in Kolkata. The role offers hands‑on experience with enterprise applications, Agile development, automation, APIs, cloud technologies and AI, ideal for candidates aiming to build a career in software testing.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze business needs and software requirements, identifying gaps, risks and testability concerns early.
• Own test planning and strategy for features and releases, including scope, approach and risk‑based prioritisation.
• Design comprehensive test scenarios and cases covering end‑to‑end workflows, integrations and edge cases.
• Execute functional, integration, regression and system testing, report defects with clear root‑cause analysis.
• Build, maintain and enhance automated UI and API test suites, integrating them into CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with developers, architects, analysts, product owners and fellow quality engineers in Scaled Agile ceremonies.

Required profile

• 3‑4 years of hands‑on software testing and quality engineering experience.
• Strong analytical, logical reasoning and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and a structured testing approach.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, with confidence to raise risks.
• Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively across teams.

Required skills

• Test automation tools such as Playwright (or similar).
• Programming/scripting in Java, Python or JavaScript.
• API testing with Postman, REST Assured or comparable tools.
• Test management and defect tracking using Jira, Azure DevOps or equivalents.
• CI/CD pipeline experience with Jenkins, GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps pipelines.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
