Software Engineer – SONiC (Network Applications)

About the role

Arista Networks is seeking a Software Engineer to develop and enhance SONiC‑based networking solutions for data‑center environments. You will work on cutting‑edge features that combine open‑source software with Arista EOS, delivering high‑performance, highly available networks.

Key responsibilities

• Suggest and decide on new features to build for SONiC platforms.
• Design, architect, and develop network applications and micro‑services for data‑center networking on SONiC.
• Push, test, and document the implemented features.
• Collaborate with customers in the field when required.

Required profile

• Strong engineering and computer‑science fundamentals.
• Extensive background in algorithms and software architecture.
• Fluency in C, C++ or Python.
• Hands‑on experience designing and implementing products in a strong engineering environment.

Required skills

• Minimum 1 year of hands‑on SONiC experience, including understanding of SONiC architecture.
• Knowledge of the FRR open‑routing stack, Redis‑DB, and Docker.
• Experience using SONiC SAI for feature development and integration.
• Network systems software development and strong debugging skills in embedded systems.
• Experience with forwarding ASICs, FPGAs, or network processors.
• Familiarity with datapath forwarding for ACLs, QoS, unicast and multicast.
