Software Engineer, Security Platform

About the role

Coinbase is looking for a Software Engineer to join its Security Platform Engineering team. You will help build and scale core security services that protect digital assets and enable compliance across the company.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and develop the security platform, providing technical direction and strategic roadmaps.
• Build new services using Golang and Java to meet critical product and business needs.
• Design scalable, cloud‑native systems following industry best practices.
• Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables while mentoring team members.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers and senior leadership to translate vision into quarterly roadmaps.
• Write high‑quality, well‑tested code and debug complex technical problems.
• Review feature designs for security, safety, scalability, operational integrity and architectural clarity.

Required profile

• 3+ years of software engineering experience building and maintaining production services.
• Proven ability to design, scale and operate service‑oriented architectures.
• Strong system‑design and coding expertise with a focus on quality and testing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Passion for building an open financial system and enhancing security and privacy.
