Software Engineer II - Audit & Logging

About the role

DigitalOcean is looking for a Software Engineer II to join the Audit Logging & Security Visibility team. You will help build and maintain pipelines that record security‑relevant activity across the cloud platform, enabling customers and internal teams to detect threats, investigate incidents, and meet compliance requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Implement new features and fix bugs in audit and telemetry pipelines using Go, following established architectural patterns.
• Develop and maintain integrations with SIEM platforms such as Splunk, Datadog, Chronicle, and Microsoft Sentinel.
• Ensure audit records are accurate, retained correctly, and available in real time.
• Collaborate with IAM, Threat Detection, and Platform teams to align work with broader platform goals.
• Identify gaps in logging coverage and improve event data quality.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of software engineering experience delivering production services.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, replication, latency trade‑offs and failure modes.
• Experience with streaming or messaging concepts (Kafka, Flink) is a plus.
• Familiarity with containerised environments (Kubernetes) and SQL databases; Terraform experience is a plus.
• Ability to document work clearly and collaborate effectively with cross‑functional stakeholders.
