Software Engineer I

About the role

We are looking for a passionate Software Engineer I to join Nike’s Data, Analytics, and Intelligence (DAI) team. You will help design and deliver scalable AI/ML services that power data‑driven insights across the Nike ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust AI services and micro‑services that support enterprise‑wide data platforms.
• Build SDKs, APIs, and agentic workflows, including AI/LLM‑powered applications.
• Create user‑facing tools and internal dashboards using modern UI frameworks such as React or Streamlit.
• Collaborate with product managers and cross‑functional engineers to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Apply best practices for software development, data governance, observability, and test‑driven development.
• Participate in code reviews, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 1 year of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong analytical mindset and problem‑solving abilities.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python for building backend services.
• Familiarity with front‑end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript) and UI frameworks such as React or Streamlit.
• Experience with Infrastructure‑as‑Code, GitOps workflows, and cloud platforms, especially Amazon Web Services.
• Knowledge of containerization (Docker), CI/CD pipelines, and observability tools (OpenTelemetry, Splunk).
• Understanding of data structures, data modeling, software architecture, and relational/NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, Redis).
• Experience with enterprise authentication/authorization protocols (OAuth, OIDC, Okta).
