Software Engineer – Azure Data & Cosmos Team

About the role

Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is shaping the future of analytics with a portfolio that includes Azure Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI. As a Software Engineer you will help build the data platform for the age of AI, delivering mission‑critical, AI‑enabled operational databases and big‑data services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and ship production‑grade features for the Cosmos service (Control Plane, Data Plane, or Compute Platform).
• Own components end‑to‑end, from design and implementation to testing, deployment, and operational support.
• Write high‑quality, maintainable, and performant code following engineering best practices.
• Participate in system design discussions, proposing solutions for scalability, reliability, and fault tolerance.
• Collaborate with Azure cloud infrastructure and platform services teams (Fabric, Storage, ACI, Capacity).

Required profile

• Strong problem‑solving mindset and ability to work iteratively with customers.
• Comfortable using AI tools such as Copilot as a core part of the development workflow.
• Experience collaborating with cross‑functional stakeholders in a fast‑moving product environment.
