Software Architect (Expert Level)

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a seasoned Software Architect to design and implement scalable, reliable, and maintainable software solutions for its semiconductor equipment portfolio. You will work in Bangalore, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to translate business needs into robust architectural designs.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop high‑performance software components, creating quick prototypes to validate concepts.
• Lead technical reviews, mentor Tech Leads and software engineers, and guide best‑practice coding standards.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Evaluate and recommend technologies, frameworks, and tools that meet project requirements.

Required profile

• 12‑18 years of experience with a BTech/MTech in Computer Science.
• Proven track record as a Software Architect or similar role with at least 10 years in product development.
• Strong background in core Java (streams, functional programming, virtual threads) and Spring Boot.
• Experience building microservices‑based architectures and large‑scale systems.

Required skills

• Core Java, Spring Boot, microservices, HLD & LLD design.
• Algorithms, data structures, reactive programming.
• Workflow frameworks such as Temporal or Apache Airflow.
• Python with experience in scikit‑image, TensorFlow, PyTorch (good to have).
