Skilled Technician – Level II – Shop

About the role

The Skilled Technician – Level II – Shop is responsible for maintaining and repairing production, assembly and testing equipment in a manufacturing environment. The role ensures high equipment reliability, supports automation systems, and upholds strict health, safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Follow Cummins HSE policies, perform Job Safety Assessments, use appropriate PPE and stop work for unsafe conditions.
• Execute preventive, predictive, corrective, emergency and breakdown maintenance on electrical systems, industrial controls, PLCs, drives and production machinery.
• Maintain and troubleshoot Siemens S7‑1500 PLC automation using TIA Portal, and program modifications or upgrades.
• Support industrial robots (ABB, FANUC, Yaskawa, Universal Robots) and collaborative robotics, including motion‑control and servo systems.
• Manage machine communications via PROFINET, OPC UA, TCP/IP and related networking protocols.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis, implement corrective actions and participate in TPM and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Maintain tools, fixtures and test equipment, support calibration activities and keep work areas clean and organized.
• Collaborate with production, quality, engineering, IT and maintenance teams, and coordinate with vendors during projects.

Required profile

• Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and adherence to HSE policies.
• Experience performing preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical and automation equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair PLC‑based systems and industrial robotics.
• Proficiency in documenting maintenance activities and feeding data into preventive‑maintenance systems.
