Site Reliability Engineer – Platform Software Team

About the role

As a Site Reliability Engineer within the Platform Software Team, you will focus on developing and sustaining the fundamental infrastructure that supports Arista’s Manufacturing and Platform Diagnostics teams. This environment enables validation of high‑speed digital designs and helps optimize manufacturing yields for products used in the world’s largest data centers.

Key responsibilities

• Build, deploy, and operate critical production systems with emphasis on scalability, reliability, observability, performance and security.
• Automate provisioning and management of Kubernetes clusters on bare‑metal, using Ansible, Terraform and related tools.
• Monitor, respond to, and improve alerting mechanisms, and maintain incident response runbooks.
• Collaborate with hardware labs, manufacturing sites and software engineers to troubleshoot platform issues and drive infrastructure improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in site reliability, infrastructure engineering or related fields.

Required skills

• Programming/scripting in Go, Python or Bash.
• Linux system administration and debugging.
• Deploying and managing Kubernetes on bare‑metal.
• Automation with Ansible/Ansible Tower or AWX.
• Containerization with Docker and virtualization technologies.
• Infrastructure‑as‑code tools such as Terraform.
• Experience with air‑gapped systems, monitoring stacks (Prometheus, Grafana), CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, Zuul) and artifact repositories (Artifactory, Docker registry).
